Interpreter Development & Education Association
IDEA was founded by three interpreters in Northwest Washington who saw a need for interpreter training and development to support novice and veteran interpreters alike
Our mission is to provide affordable, effective training and continuing education to interpreters of all backgrounds, and to provide culturally-tailored development opportunities to aspiring interpreters for indigenous languages.
We employ research-based educational approaches that support the development of the knowledge and skills that interpreters need, taking into account the unique demands of providing meaningful language access to diverse cultural groups.
Date: July 25th, 2024

Do you ever feel like it’s hard to communicate your choices as an interpreter to the other people in the room? Have you ever had the feeling that you needed to step outside of the interpreting role, but couldn’t quite explain why it was necessary?
This interactive two-hour continuing education course will help interpreters understand and use the language of ethics to analyze their choices and communicate with non-interpreters about the professional choices they make. It has been approved for 1 Ethics and 1 general credit with Washington DSHS.
Please send us a message if you have any questions about upcoming offerings.
